About
An independent guide, in plain language
BeetleBusters.info is an independent educational resource about invasive tree pests, written for US homeowners. Our goal is simple: help you recognize a genuine threat to your trees, understand what’s at stake, and reach the right official channel quickly when it matters.
We are not a government agency. BeetleBusters is not affiliated with the USDA, APHIS, or any state or federal body. We revive a name that Americans came to recognize during public outreach on the Asian Longhorned Beetle, and continue that educational mission as an independent project. When you need to file an official report, we send you directly to the agency responsible.

Editorial standards
Everything we publish is meant to be verifiable against primary sources. Our standards:
How content is sourced
- Pest identification, biology, and quarantine information is grounded in USDA APHIS guidance and university extension programs (Cornell, Penn State, Ohio State, UMass, and peers), which we cite on the page.
- We prioritize official and academic sources over secondary reporting. Where sources disagree, we say so.
- We do not present ourselves as a regulatory authority, and we do not collect sighting reports ourselves — reporting always routes to the responsible agency.
Review
- Articles carry a “Reviewed by” byline naming the person who checked them for accuracy, plus a last-updated date.
- Guidance is reviewed when official recommendations or quarantine boundaries change.
Corrections policy
If you find an error, email us and we’ll fix it. Substantive corrections are noted with an updated date on the affected page. Accuracy matters more than being first.
Independence & funding
BeetleBusters may earn commissions from affiliate links to relevant products (for example, tree care or pest-monitoring supplies). This never influences our identification guidance or which official channel we point you to. See our affiliate disclosure.
